In terms of maximum sustained winds, Irma had been the strongest hurricane since Irma. It was the first category 5 Hurricane to strike the Leeward Islands on record. It caused $66.77 Billion in Damages and was the fifth-costliest hurricane on record.

Challenge -Food
When the rebuilding began, there was an immediate need for housing and feeding for hundreds of workers now living onsite who could not leave the location and had no resources available for food and lodging. A vendor capable of providing this had to possess the capabilities of providing their own electricity and water and be onsite immediately for an undetermined amount of time.
Solution – Food
Within 60 hours of receiving the call for the job, our team at Geaux Culinary had arrived on site, coordinated two fifty foot kitchen trailers, a fifteen person crew, our food vendor on location with supplies, and were serving hot meals. Our Geaux Team, provide our world famous Cajun cuisine to these hard working crews rebuilding the devastated areas. We cooked three meals a day for up to 500 workers and provided our own water, power and grey water disposal for 45 days.

Within 4 days of receiving the call for the job, our Geaux Team assembled a 16,000 square foot soft tent with sub flooring, 300 beds, 24 bathrooms, 40 showers, full dining and recreation areas and 30 washers and dryers onsite and provided electricity, water and grey water disposal. This facility provided these hard working crews a place to call home for a full month. Our professional staff independently coordinated all equipment arrival on site, assembled the entire facility and broke it down once the workers were able to go home.
